Welcome to TheConcertHall.ca. We are excited you have joined us and look forward to helping you make the most of your membership. If you have not yet had the chance, you can purchase a subscription here.

What is TheConcertHall.ca?

TheConcertHall.ca is a new streaming concert service that lets you enjoy performances by the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra in the comfort of your home. Starting October 16, performances will be released on a weekly basis into TheConcertHall.ca. Approximately forty performances will be released in the season including classics, pops and kids programming. Performances will be 45 minutes to an hour long.

Some performances will be freely available to all visitors. Most will require a 7-day, 30-day or annual subscription to access. Performances can be viewed on computer, laptop, smartphone, or tablet device. You can watch wirelessly on a TV using Apple TV or Chromecast to share the video with your TV. You can navigate to TheConcertHall.ca on a Blu-Ray device. You can use a HDMI, DVI or VGA cable to connect your PC directly to a TV.

Finding Concerts and Musical Content

Concerts are presented in the series listed in the top menu or here. Only performances that have been released or announced are available. The first concert will be released on October 16. You can see the full release schedule here.

New and upcoming releases will be listed on TheConcertHall.ca home page. You can also use the search bar to find content based on keywords like a composer or artist name.

Managing Your Account

You can update your account information at any time. When logged in, you can change your personal information by selecting the “My Account” tab in the top menu of TheConcertHall.ca.

Behind the Scenes

All video is released in high quality audio and 1080p HD video. We use four to six HD cameras to shoot each performance. Audio is captured by a dedicated symphonic audio engineer deploying an array of ten to twenty microphones for each performance.

How to Stream

NOTE: Before streaming, make sure you are logged in to your account and make sure your account has an active membership.

To Login:

1) Click the “Login” button on the top left-centre of our website. If you are viewing the website on your smartphone, you will find the “Login” option collapsed within the symbol that looks like an “=” sign with an extra line. If you do not see “Login” and instead see “My Account,” that means you are already logged in.

2) Enter your email address and password. If you cannot recall your password, click on the “Reset my password” option and follow the instructions.

3) If you experience continued problems trying to login, or if you have questions regarding your account, please contact info@theconcerthall.ca.

With Smartphone/tablet device

1) Bring up the browser app of your choosing on your smartphone or tablet device.

• Recommended browser apps*: Safari, Google Chrome, Firefox.

*Make sure your app is up-to-date.

2) Visit www.theconcerthall.ca.

3) Find the performance via the links on the homepage or via the “Series” page.

4) Click play on the video. If only a preview video is displayed, you are not logged in or your subscription has expired. If you are not seeing any video, there may be an issue with your device or browser.

With computer/laptop

1) Load the browser of your choosing.

• Recommended browsers*: Safari, Google Chrome, Firefox, Explorer, Opera.

*Make sure your browser and browser plug-ins are up-to-date.

2) Visit www.theconcerthall.ca.

3) Find the performance via the links on the homepage or via the “Series” page.

4) Click play on the video If only a preview video is displayed, you are not logged in or your subscription has expired. If you are not seeing any video, there may be an issue with your device or browser.

With Smart TV/Smart Blu-Ray player

1) Bring up the browser app of your choosing on your smart TV or Blu-Ray device.

• Recommended browser apps*: Safari, Google Chrome, Firefox, Explorer.

*Make sure your app is up-to-date.

NOTE: Some smart TVs/Blu-Ray players have their own browser apps that are not amongst those listed above. These apps may not be equipped to play TCH videos.

2) Visit www.theconcerthall.ca.

3) Find the performance via the links on the homepage or via the “Series” page.

4) Click play on the video. If only a preview video is displayed, you are not logged in or your subscription has expired. If you are not seeing any video, there may be an issue with your device or browser.

With Chromecast (computer/laptop to TV)*

*Chromecasting can only be accomplished from a computer or laptop at this point. Chromecasting cannot be accomplished from a smartphone or tablet.

1) To start, make sure both the Chromecast plug-in and the computer/laptop are connected to the same WiFi network.

2) Set your TV to the HDMI input that the Chromecast device is connected to.

3) On the computer/laptop, bring up the Google Chrome browser app**

**At this point, casting can only be accomplished from this browser (no other browsers can be used).

4) Visit www.theconcerthall.ca.

5) Find the performance via the links on the homepage or via the “Series” page.

6) Once you have brought up the video, a Chromecast icon should appear in the bottom right or top right corner of the video or video page – click this button.

7) Your TV should confirm that it is ready to cast.

8) Click play on the video. If only a preview video is displayed, you are not logged in or your subscription has expired. If you are not seeing any video, there may be an issue with your device or browser.

With AirPlay and Apple TV (computer/laptop/phone/tablet to TV)*

*Our content can only be cast to a TV via AirPlay if the device casting is using the Safari browser.

1) To start, make sure both the Apple TV plug-in and your device are connected to the same WiFi network.

2) Set your TV to the HDMI input that the Apple TV device is connected to.

3) On the computer/laptop/smartphone/tablet, bring up the Safari browser app.

4) Visit www.theconcerthall.ca.

5) Find the performance via the links on the homepage or via the “Series” page.

6) Once you have brought up the video, an AirPlay icon should appear in the bottom or top right corner of the video or video page – click this button.

7) Your TV should confirm that it is ready to cast.

8) Click play on the video. If only a preview video is displayed, you are not logged in or your subscription has expired. If you are not seeing any video, there may be an issue with your device or browser.

With an HDMI cable (device to TV)

1) To start, turn on your TV and make sure the TV input is set to the input hooked up with the HDMI cable.

2) Bring up the concert of your choosing on your smartphone, tablet, or computer (see instructions in previous sections).

3) Connect your device to the HDMI cable (some devices may require adaptors in order to become compatible with HDMI).

4) Look to the TV to confirm the connection is successful – you should see TheConcertHall.ca exactly as it appears on a computer.

5) Click play on the video. If only a preview video is displayed, you are not logged in or your subscription has expired. If you are not seeing any video, there may be an issue with your device or browser.
